Honeymoon Destinations

Think of the honeymoons featured below as inspiration pieces, from which you can draw ideas for your own dream honeymoon in Southern Africa.

Honeymoon in Botswana

For the ultimate safari combination of big game, stunning scenery, luxury and privacy, Botswana is the perfect destination. A safari in Botswana has so much variety in wildlife and contrasting scenery a few nights in each area is recommended.

The Okavango Delta is the heart of a Botswana safari and nothing can compare to a mokoro safari in the sparkling waters of the delta surrounded by the palm and papyrus fringed islands.

The Savute and Linyanti regions of dry riverbeds, far stretching plains and forests that support huge numbers of elephant, antelope and prides of lion are an area in which you should spend at least few days, before perhaps visiting the contrasting Makagikgadi Pans were you can take a walk with the San Bushmen.

Honeymoon in Zambia

Zambia offers some of the most remote locations to be found anywhere in Africa.

Zambia is ideal for an adventurous, yet comfortable honeymoon safari where you can enjoy walking, open vehicle safaris and boating and canoeing on the Zambezi

While safaris in Zambia give you a chance to enjoy a little more walking, they are not overly strenuous and some of the best guides and privately owned small safari camps and lodges can be found in Zambia

Honeymoon in Namibia

Be humbled and inspired by the sweeping dune-scape. Namibia is a must for those fascinated by desert scenery and surreal landscapes.

A honeymoon in Namibia will take you from the windswept, desolate but hauntingly beautiful Skeleton Coast where many ships found their fate, to the soaring dunes at Sossussvlei.

In Namibia you can enjoy game viewing in the unique Etosha saltpan with its abundant wildlife and the mountainous deserts of Damaraland where the desert adapted elephant and rhinoceros can be found.

Honeymoon in Tanzania

Set out with your private guide across the endless Serengeti plains in search of the immense Migration of a million wildebeest and zebra.

Enjoy a private mobile safari and have your camp set up for you under the baobab trees or near a river, and be looked after by your own cook and safari guides.

Spend some time in the Serengeti followed by a few days in a luxury lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater or head further south to the Selous and Ruaha National Parks, or west to the Mahale and Katavi mountain regions.

After this why not visit Zanzibar – the spice island and enjoy relaxing in one of Zanzibar’s beautiful beach lodges.

Honeymoon in Kenya

The spectacular pink shimmer of flamingos on the horizon can be found on the Rift Valley lakes in Kenya.

Witness the migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra and Thompson's gazelle found in the Maasai Mara at certain times of the year. On your Honeymoon safari have a private guide and Land rover allowing you the ultimate flexibility and private experience of Kenya far away from tourists.

You might also enjoy a visit to a Maasai village or perhaps like to be hosted by Maasai at your lodge.

Honeymoon in South Africa

Cape Town, the wine lands and the Garden Route have all the ingredients for the perfect honeymoon. Using a series of selected small hotels, country house, and guesthouses you can enjoy Table Mountain, Robben Island , the markets and harbour before heading to the wine lands and beyond to the Garden Route.

The garden route has a wonderful coastline, indigenous forests and nature reserves. Combine this with a few days safaris at one of the malaria free destinations or travel to any of the many lodges in the country offering all levels of luxury and you have the perfect recipe for the fantastic honeymoon

Wherever you choose to go on safari Close Encounters will create an individually styled Honeymoon safari and we can follow this with one of many stunning beach locations for you to relax and savour the highlights of your safari adventure.

Between June and November see whales beaching as drive along the coastal roads or get even closer on an ocean safari.

Honeymoon in Madagascar

For those who want something a little out of the ordinary, in a new and emerging tourist destination, then Madagascar is the place for a fantastic honeymoon.

Unique wildlife, friendly people and beautiful breaches make this an unusual and exciting honeymoon destination.

For divers the the islands of the Nosy Be archipelago provide excellent diving sites and you can swim with the giant turtles at Nosy Inranja.

A visit to Madagascar can be combined with a safari in South Africa as there are daily flights from Johannesburg.
