ENTRY Visas

Some, but not all, of the countries you visit in Southern Africa will require citizens to hold a valid entry visa. Close Encounters can provide information about how to apply for a visa.

• EU Passport holders will need a full passport valid for six months after the date of return (one month only for leisure travellers to South Africa). Visas are required for Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia.
• South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland have no visa requirement for EU Passport holders on holiday, however you do need to have two spare blank page in your passport for the entry stamp and preferably more if several countries are being visited (ie. at least one page per country visited).
• US and Canadian Passport holders will need a full passport and, except for South Africa, this should be valid for six months after the date of return. Visas are required for Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia. South Africa has no visa requirement for US and Canadian Passport holders on holiday, however you do need to have two spare pages in your passport and preferably more if several countries are being visited (ie. at least one page per country visited).
• Holders of other passports should check with the relevant Embassy/Consulate. Note that visa requirements may change at any time and it is your responsibility to check current requirements before travel. Nationals who do need visas should have at least two blank pages and more if several countries are being visited (ie. at least one page per country visited and two pages for South Africa).

Countries change their requirements regularly, so it is worth checking with Close Encounters and the embassy of the country you are visiting well before you go.
